9 Month Old With Psoriasis

My nine month old daughter has been diagnosed with Psoriasis. She has spots in her many creases, armpits, on her back, her ears and her bottom is just covered. The inflammation must be uncomfortable for her and the Doctor prescribed a 2% hydrocortisone cream which I am uncomfortable using on her delicate skin, especially in her arm pits and all the other creases. You also recommend herbal remedies. Lately I have been using echinacea oil and lavender oil in a grapeseed oil and just covering her after a bath. What herbal remedies could I use to help her - and how. She is so small. For now I will continue to breast feed her. Could we also give her a form of Omega 3 (like Krill oil)?

Thank you for your informative site and for the clear explanation of the dangers of hydrocortisone cream. Just what I needed as a concerned mommy.

Response To 9 Month Old With Psoriasis

Hello Tara,

I am so glad that you decided not to use the 2% hydrocortisone cream on your daughter. Unfortunately most doctors do not inform their patients of the many risks and side effects of using steroid creams. I highly praise you for seeking natural alternatives to help your daughter's psoriasis. This will make a huge difference in her recovery.

Notably, the essential oils you mentioned are a nice addition to your daughter's skin care, however, the most important factor missing is the skin's need for "moisture". Replenishing moisture with health building ingredients will help the skin repair and restore. Here is my recommendation Tara:

First, bath your daughter with our FACE & BODY MOISTURIZING WASH which is a specially formulated mild cleanser that contains only herbal ingredients that are organically grown and hypo-allergenic and safe enough for baby's skin. This will begin to add moisture to her skin and soothe the skin layers. After bathing, gently pat her skin dry with a soft towel.

Then moisturize with our HAND & BODY THERACREAM (for all over body use - depending on where her psoriasis is located) as this is extremely important for her psoriasis treatment. This specially formulated cream will stop any itching while repairing and bringing balance back to her skin - restoring the normal function of the skin instead of just placating the symptoms. Remember that the most effective, specially formulated products are plant based, have a very rich emollient level and are loaded with nutrients.

At first, you can even add a bit of sterile water to her first few applications to thin the cream somewhat and gradually add less water until you are applying full strength. This cream is very soothing and will quickly reduce any redness and inflammation.

Please feel free to contact me with any other questions you may have Tara and let me know how your little girl is progressing.

Warm Regards,
Nanette
