Burning Scalp Syndrome

Hi there...

Stumbled onto your website, very interesting. I was wondering if you ever dealt with the symptom of burning scalp. I am a 44 year old woman relatively healthy, but about a year and a half ago started having hair loss. Just recently I noticed that my scalp was becoming very itchy. I have tried many different shampoos, always allowing proper time to see if they work. None did. Now I am experiencing a burning scalp. My scalp is tender and burning. I am so depressed, have you ever heard of this? I have no real flakes that I can see...whats strange is even my hairline down onto my face is burning. Any insight would be so appreciated! Bless You, Lesley

Hello Lesley,

Burning scalp is actually quite common and I will gladly provide you insight to your condition as well as my recommendations. Burning scalp syndrome, also called scalp dysesthesia or trichodynia is a distressing disease causing burning , tingling, and itching sensations on the scalp and the symptom was considered part of nervousness or depressive illnesses. accompanied by identifiable skin and hair changes on the scalp.

Normally, the hair has three stages in its life cycle: the growth phase or anagen, the resting phase or telogen and the falling stage or catagen. There is some evidence that the changes occurring within the hair follicle when it enters the resting or telogen phase produces a burning or warm sensation in the scalp.

There are many possible causes as why the burning sensation is produced such as harmful and toxic chemicals in hair products (including hair dyes), hormonal changes, stress or anxiety, dietary changes or internal illness.
Following inflammatory reactions affecting the hair follicle, the hair goes into a telogen phase as a protective mechanism, which results in the burning and painful sensations as inflammation and hair loss progress.

The hair loss in burning scalp syndrome is generalized in majority of cases, though it can be localized to the area of inflammation. I strongly advise avoiding irritating the scalp. Do not use hot or very cold water and harsh shampoos. Also, avoid scratching, pressure combing, very tight hair bands etc.

The following are my recommendations to help repair your scalp and relieve the burning, itching and subsequent hair loss.

1) At night before bedtime, rub in our specially formulated therapeutic DOUBLE STRENGTH THERACREAM into the parts of the scalp affected. This double strength formula is all natural and penetrates the thicker skin of the scalp deeper and faster. Allow the cream to absorb overnight into the 7 layers of scalp tissue. It will begin to relieve inflammation and itchiness while additionally unclogging any hair follicles.

2) Next, wash your hair and scalp with our HERBAL SHAMPOO TREATMENT which is hypo-allergenic and filled with nutrients. These 2 products, together, will unpack dry skin cells in the deepest part of the scalp and restore much needed moisture to repair and help you regain a healthy balance once again. They will also provide anti bacterial protection while working. As the scalp resumes a healthy and balanced state the hair cycle of growth will be restored.

Once your scalp condition is repaired you need only use the HERBAL SHAMPOO TREATMENT to keep your scalp healthy and problem free.

Please keep me posted on their progress Lesley.

Warm Regards,
Nanette
