Dry, Frizzy, Uneven Hair

by Hillwa

Dear Nanette,
I have long hair that goes down to the bottom of my back, it looks nice when I have all my hair food in it but when I wash it out, it's frizzy, dry and I notice little stray strands here and there, that aren't the same length as my hair. I just wish I could find a solution to this problem. I want naturally beautiful hair without having to use so many products, I want my old hair back! when I was a little girl I had soft healthy shiny hair. I don't blow dry, straighten, dye or do anything to my hair. What shall I do?

Response to Dry, Frizzy, Uneven Hair

Hello Hillwa,

First, congratulations on having hair as long as yours...what a treasure! You mentioned "hair food" and I'm not exactly sure what you mean. If you mean the commercial hair products that are advertised to tame the frizzies and so forth, I'm afraid that you might be experiencing the effects of the harmful toxins and chemicals that are contained in these products. (If you mean something else, can you please write me?)

Here is a short list of some of the most common additives that companies will put in their hair products and the harm they can cause:

1) MINERAL OIL - is simply a cheap filler with harmful effects to your skin and health.
2) DEA (diethanolamine), MEA (monoethanolamine) and TEA (triethanolamine) are hormone-disrupting chemicals found in many shampoos.
3) Imidazolidinyl DMDM Hydantoin - these are preservatives that release formaldehyde, triggering skin irritations and even heart palpitations.
4) FRAGRANCE - if you see the word "fragrance" on the ingredient list it means synthetic ingredients that can cause allergic reactions.
5) ALCOHOL - dries out hair so avoid hairsprays and volumizers, which contain tons of alcohol.
6) PHTHLATES, (pronounced thowl-ates) - used to stabilize fragrances, also makes plastics flexible and is very toxic.
7) SODIUM LAURYL SULFATE - used because it is an inexpensive detergent and makes mixtures foam well but has cancer causing properties.
8) BETAINE - used in shampoos as an emulsifying agent and thickener, can cause a red, drying rash on your scalp, around the eyes and along the neck, with flaking, peeling, and itching.
9) PARABENS - preservatives that have been identified as clear-cut xenoestrogens which are synthetic toxic substances.

As an advocate of natural remedies, I believe in the immediate and long term benefits of using only a natural, organic shampoo for your hair and scalp which is critically important.

The right combination of natural herbal extracts, vitamins C and E, tea tree oil and more will provide highly reparative ingredients will add necessary moisture to the hair shafts and scalp. And the body responds quickly to "natural" as you will see.

Three highly effective ingredients in our HERBAL SHAMPOO TREATMENT includes tea tree oil, shea butter and urea . These three ingredients provide a powerful formula to relieving dry hair.
Here's why:

Tea Tree Oil: has extraordinary medicinal qualities and has a very helpful restorative effect upon application.

Shea Butter: has a soothing, moisturizing and protecting effect and helps cell regeneration and capillary circulation.

Urea: has superior humectant properties that greatly adds much needed moisture to the hair shafts and scalp.

Remember, a natural shampoo doesn't disturb the natural PH of the hair like most commercial shampoos and products do. It soothes and hydrates the scalp for long lasting relief and health.
Please keep me posted on your progress Hillwa.

Warm Regards,
Nanette
