Treat Eczema Children Conditions Naturally!

As parents, eczema children conditions can be a trying time for all! However, moms and dads, take heart! Moms and Dads ask, "How do I know if my child has eczema?"

In young children, a rash develops most often on the face. However, eczema children conditions can really occur most anywhere such as on the insides of the elbows, the backs of the knees, the hands and the backs of the elbows.

Eczema (also called "atopic dermatitis") is a serious skin disease. Eczema causes dry skin that can itch, get red and crack. Part of the skin might break out in a rash, or the rash might be on the whole body.

Up to 30 percent of children get eczema but is most common in children whose relatives have allergic conditions like asthma or hay fever.

1) Soaps, laundry detergents and perfumes.

2) Scratchy clothes (like wool) can also irritate the skin.

3) Allergens like pollens, pet hair or dander (dried bits of skin), food, feathers and dust mites. (Dust mites are very tiny, spider-like creatures. They make their homes in mattresses, pillows and rugs. They can only be seen under a microscope.)

4) Low humidity. During cold weather, the heated air inside homes and other buildings can make skin dry and itchy.

5) Heat, high humidity and sweating. These can make the itching worse.

6) Certain foods or beverages can cause an allergic reaction in your body.

7) Stressful situations can cause the face and body to get itchy, red and hot.

If you suspect that your child might have a certain allergy to a food item, do the following: start by dropping a certain food from his or her diet for a while and keep a journal to record the response the eczema may have. Then, discontinue any food item triggering the condition.

I often recommend doing the following:

1) Because laundry soaps can irritate your skin, run your child's clothes through two rinse cycles and try using a milder laundry soap.

2) Wash your child's sheets often in hot water to get rid of dust mites. Use dust-proof covers on pillows, box springs and mattresses.

3) Dress your child in loose clothes made of cotton and other natural materials that "breathe." Wash new clothing before it is worn.

Healthy meals and snacks along with healthy beverages should be a part of every child's diet.

Eating healthy foods on a regular basis can go a long way in helping eczema children conditions and in attaining and prolonging the optimum condition and health of your child's body and skin.

Include plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables with a lot of variety to keep your child's interest. You can even try juicing the fruits and vegetables for a super wholesome beverage! And be sure to have your child drink plenty of water. Water helps keep the skin moist.

Proper skin care is very important in caring for eczema children conditions!

1) Bathe your child in moderately warm water not more than once a day for less than 10 minutes.

U.S. researchers suggest that a substance secreted by eczema-damaged skin might trigger asthma in children.

The theory comes from a study of eczema-like conditions, which suggested that early treatment of eczema and inhibition of the trigger substance might help prevent asthma.

An estimated 50 percent to 70 percent of children with severe eczema, known as atopic dermatitis, develop asthma, compared with about 9 percent of children in the general population. In the United States, about 17 percent of children have eczema, although not all cases are severe.

The progression from eczema to asthma is called the atopic march.

It was found that the children also suffered from asthma-like responses to inhaled allergens, implicating a substance, called TSLP, as the link between eczema and asthma."

Researchers found that TSLP (thylmic stromal lymphopoietin) is secreted by damaged skin to alert the body that the skin's protective barrier has failed. TSLP activates an immune response that fights invaders. These studies alert us to the great need to quickly provide an eczema treatment with natural and effective means.
