Eczema On Lips And Mouth

I have had a condition of eczema on my lips and around my mouth for about a month now. The traditional doctors have given me hydrocortisone cream but I don't want to use it. I tried it a few times and it didn't make a difference.
I have tried everything natural, vitamin E oil, natural lip balms, cod liver oil, etc. Is there anything you can recommend? I don't know what is triggering it. I have many food allergies and eat a very clean diet. In the past when I had ecezema on my legs it was due to eating a particular food and I stopped and it went away. But with this I have no idea. And it's so visible and awkward on the mouth.

Hello Patti,

From the symptoms you are describing, it sounds like you may have perioral dermatitis. Some experts believe it is a form of eczema or rosacea or sunlight-worsened seborrheic dermatitis. It can be very difficult to determine what is causing the skin on your lips and around your mouth to react in such a way. Some types of makeup, commercial creams/serums, and dental products may be partially responsible. Further, hydrocortisone creams applied to the face can actually worsen perioral dermatitis as well as produce dangerous side effects.
