Eczema over my eye is horrible.

eczema over my eye, it is also on my eye.

My doctors have been giving 1% cortisone cream to put on my eye lid.

Its still very itching (been doing this now for almost 2 yrs), now my eye lid is always red...has small bumps only visible up close and to the touch...and my eye lid has more wrinkles on it, and is starting to sag...for a 25yr old this is very depressing...i have sever allergies to my cat...but I can't get rid of her...i just can't it would kill me....but i can't have one eye bigger then the other....

Can someone please suggest some sort of cream I can replace the 1% cortisone cream with so I don't have to worry about my skin thinning out on my eye lid...its so itching it's very very hard not to touch it....i have been putting strong moisturizers on it along with the cortisone cream...but its getting out of control...

Please if anyone cane, please help me.

Thank you for contacting me with your question. First know that dryness on the eyelid area is a common condition in which the upper layer of the skin, the epidermis, turns itchy, tight, and rough and may produce bumps.

Applying hydrocortisone cream to sensitive spots such as the eyelids, armpits, and groin (all places where eczema, rashes, and allergic reactions are particularly common), can be particularly devastating. Skin is thinner and more folds exist, so skin hits skin often, which can cause medications to penetrate more deeply. My strong recommendation is that people should be on their strictest guard about over the counter as well as prescribed use of hydrocortisone. Continued use of topical steroid creams containing hydrocortisone can cause the skin to develop a resistance (called tachyplaxis) to the medication so I recommend that you avoid using it.

Also, sensitivity to certain soaps and lotions that contain harmful synthetic ingredients that are harsh and corrosive to your skin can also cause or exacerbate your problem.

What you will want to do is cleanse with warm (not hot) water and use a mild, non-soap wash that is hypo-allergenic and fragrance free. It is important that it contain only natural ingredients filled with nutrients that will begin moisturizing your skin. Our FACE & BODY WASH will do just that and begin the healing process as well.
Further, most soaps (even those listed as gentle or doctor recommended) are extremely drying - this is NOT the result you are looking for. Additionally, always avoid harsh, grainy scrubs as these can irritate your skin.

Next, in caring for your dry eyelid syndrome, it is important to couple your skin care with a cream that is specially formulated for the face and neck. It must be a fragrance free, all natural and deep moisturizing face cream. I recommend staying away from is anything that even has a hint of fragrance! I can't tell you how many people I see that use products that are loaded with perfume. Our FACE & NECK THERACREAM can be used around the eyelid area as well as facial and neck area with incredible reparative results while additionally stopping the itching associated with this condition.

Alove Vera & coca butter creams

I stopped using the cortisone cream right away...then started using aloe vera moisturizer on my...the redness went away...but it was still very itchy...

So I started using an amazing moisturizer that I use on my face and body, its coco butter (vaseline deep conditioning, contains vitamin e)...at first I was fine...still itchy but the bumps/redness/itchiness were calming down.....

The yesterday I wake up and my eye is swollen, the red bumps are worse and have spread over my eye lid...and its very very itchy....

I see my doctor tomorrow at 3:10, I will show him your comments...but I don't think he really know what's wrong with my eye....it could be exzymea but could it also be from old makeup...6mos-2yrs at the most...could that give me a similar thing on my eye?

Hi Linda,

I read about the Vaseline product you used recently and how you thought this was the product to help your condition. Unfortunately, I can tell you from experience from my clients every where that unless a product contains only natural and healthful ingredients, they will not be able to help the skin repair on a long term basis. A product may even appear to work initially and look like it is "the answer," only to find that it "forced" a response from the body and the symptoms then come back "with a vengeance". If you look at the ingredients in the Vaseline product you used last, I'm guessing you will find either mineral oil or some form of petroleum - both harmful to the skin. You see, the molecule of the mineral oil is too large to pass the pores of the skin, so basically the cream sits on top of your skin and suffocates it slowly.

I'm not sure your dermatologist will be knowledgeable about this since unfortunately, most lean towards drug oriented medications and creams. But knowing how the body responds to natural foods when ingested, one can also understand that what you place on top of the body via the skin will also greatly matter.

My hands have hives (I think) on them

Hello again :),

My hands have now developed a very, itchy, red and dry rash, with small like bumps, some filled with liquid others not...tremendously itchy....I have used Uremol: Urea Cream 20 on the hands...it's seemed to have made it worse...it temporarily helped i think.

I was given Elocom 0.1% for my eye, it's helped tremendously for it, taken the swelling and itch away, it's still red

its really hard not to itch these, and they are spreading...can i put the Elocom 0.1% on the swollen parts of my fingers and hands?

Stick to Natural Ingredients for the Health of Your Skin and Body

Wow....I just checked the ingredients to the Uremol you spoke of and it contains the following:

Each tube or jar contains micronized hydrocortisone acetate 1% in an aqueous emollient hydrating base consisting of urea 10% (pH approximately 7). Nonmedicinal ingredients: caprylic/capric triglyceride, ceteareth-12, ceteareth-20, cetyl alcohol, disodium EDTA, germaben II, glyceryl stearate, isopropyl myristate, mineral oil and lanolin alcohol, potassium phosphate monobasic, propylene glycol, purified water, sodium lauryl sulfate, sodium phosphate monobasic, and xantham gum.

Did you know that the majority of these ingredients are toxic to the skin as well as containing the dreaded mineral oil and alcohol which are immensely bad for the skin? Both this and the other product you mentioned contain hydrocortizone which, on so many levels, compromises the health of your skin and immune system.

Again, my strong recommendation is to go "natural" and stick to pure ingredients that will repair your skin problems as well as restore PH and natural balance to the body. Take a look at our products to see why so many are being helped by them.......the body truly responds to natural!
