Response To Entire Family Has Itchy Skin And Scalp Since Use Of New Fabric Softerner And Arm And Hammer Detergent

Hello Natalie,
Fabric softener and dryer sheets are some of the most toxic products around containing chemicals that could cause cancer and brain damage.
Here are just some of the chemicals found in fabric softeners and dryer sheets:
*Benzyl acetate: Linked to pancreatic cancer
*Benzyl Alcohol: Upper respiratory tract irritant
*Ethanol: Can cause central nervous system disorders *Limonene: Known carcinogen *A-Terpineol: Can cause respiratory problems, fatal edema, and central nervous system damage
*Ethyl Acetate: A narcotic *Camphor: Causes central nervous system disorders *Chloroform: Neurotoxic, anesthetic and carcinogenic *Linalool: A narcotic that causes central nervous system disorders
*Pentane: A chemical known to be harmful if inhaled

Furthermore, fabric softeners are made to stay in your clothing for long periods of time releasing chemicals slowly either into the air for you to inhale or onto your skin for you to absorb. Dryer sheets are particularly noxious because they are heated in the dryer and the chemicals are released through dryer vents and out into the environment. Health risks include:
*Central nervous system disorders *Headaches
*Nausea *Itchy Skin Often Accompanied by a rash
*Dizziness *Blood pressure reduction *Irritation to skin, mucus membranes and respiratory tract *Pancreatic cancer

Regarding the Arm & Hammer Detergent you are using, it is important to require manufacturers to tell the public what chemicals are in their products. Consumers should have the information required under an important right-to-know law: a full list of ingredients and disclosure of their impacts to health. Church & Dwight, maker of Arm & Hammer products, refuses to follow a law requiring them to disclose the chemical ingredients in their products and the health risks they pose.

I highly recommend you stop using both the new fabric softener as well as the Arm & Hammer Detergent as soon as possible. Natural alternatives do exist to provide your family with "safer" laundry products!

Here is what I strongly advise:
For itchy skin: Wash with our hypo-allergenic, chemical free cleanser, FACE & BODY WASH, which will quickly add much needed moisture to your skin and begin the restorative process. Next, apply our HAND & BODY THERACREAM which will penetrate the skin 7 layers deep and add abundant moisture as well as stop the itching and contains plenty of vitamins and nutrients to repair, fortify and protect your skin.

For the scalp: If your family's scalp condition is mild to moderate, use our HERBAL SHAMPOO TREATMENT to stop the scalp from itching, restore the proper PH and bring health and balance back to the scalp. If the condition is severe, also use our DOUBLE STRENGTH THERACREAM to be applied onto the scalp area that is affected. Do this at nighttime and in the morning wash the hair and scalp with our HERBAL SHAMPOO TREATMENT.
Please keep me posted on you and your family's progress Natalie.
Warm Regards, Nanette

Same Exact Experience

OMG, you're describing the very same symptoms that brought me here as I was searching desperately to find something about my own condition. We too recently started using Arm & Hammer detergent and first I started out with a raised red, bubbly rash from my wrist to my inner elbow. Simultaneously, I also broke out in smaller individual bumps here & there throughout my body. Once the large rash went away, the others have flared up more and, honestly, I'm itching in some VERY uncomfortable places right now. Yes, there! Not to mention even my SCALP has little bumps that literally burned when I turned on the shower. Also my waistline (where, interstingly, my clothing is in close contact with my skin) is also red & inflamed. Even my eyes itch, too. I have never had this sort of reaction to detergent before and I've used my share of them, but I will definitely not be using Arm & Hammer again!
