I've been applying neobetasone cream on my face. Each time I stop applying it for 4 days, I notice rashes and inflammation all over my face. I've been using it for over a year now, please tell me how do I stop it entirely without having such after effects?

Hello Doris,

First, let me say for our website viewer that Neo-Betasone topical cream is composed of the corticosteroids - betamethasone (17 Valerate) 0.1% and neomycin sulphate 0.5% and prolonged treatment of this drug must be AVOIDED! I am shocked that you doctor has not informed you that prolonged use may cause local atropic changes in the skin e.g. thinning, striae and dilatation of superficial blood vessels. Local skin burning sensation, pruritus, pigmentation changes, allergic contact dermatitis and hypertrichosis can also occur. It is a clear medical fact that doctors should warn their patients to avoid prolonged excessive application of Neo-Betasone cream to the facial areas.

Further, if there is significant systemic absorption, neomycin sulfate may increase the respiratory depressant effects of neuromuscular blockers.
