Hello Mr. Mangan,

Short and especially long term use of hydrocortisone cream 1% can certainly cause itching on the back and chest. You see, steroid creams of any percentage are harsh and toxic to the body and side effects are inevitable! These side effects include: thinning and discoloration of the skin, easy bruising, permanent dilation of certain blood vessels, burn marks on skin, itchiness, perioral dermatitis, liver and kidney damage and a weakened immune system. Recent studies further reveal changes in the shape or location of body fat (especially in your face, neck, back, and waist), increased acne or facial hair, menstrual problems and impotence. Not only this, but steroid use almost always produces a "rebound effect" of the very symptoms you are trying to get rid of!

The best way to treat skin and scalp conditions is with natural remedies that help to rebuild the health of your skin. Just as the body responds to wholesome foods, the skin also responds readily to natural ingredients. I would highly recommend reading the information we have on this website regarding our FACE & BODY WASH and the various hypo-allergenic creams we have available. Our products are well known for their fast working and rapid repairing of the skin and scalp.

Please feel free to contact me with any other questions you may have Mr. Mangan.

Warm Regards,
Nanette
