Itchy, White Patches On Scalp

It started out as one small spot of white scale, I'd scratch, it would come off, including a couple of hairs.

It's spread across the back of my scalp... itching horribly. I checked the shampoos I've used recently and both contain sodium lauryl sulfate so I'm wondering if this might be the problem after reading your site. I've used Selsen blue, thinking it was a dandruff problem, but it doesn't help either.

I would appreciate your suggestions.

Hello Diane,

You are quite correct in that the sodium lauryl sulfate can be causing the condition you are experiencing. You mentioned Selsun Blue and this shampoo contains many ingredients that are TOXIC!

1) MINERAL OIL - a by product in the processing of gasoline from petroleum and it acts like a plastic wrap, cutting off precious oxygen and preventing toxins from escaping the skin which can cause acne.
2) DEA (diethanolamine), MEA (monoethanolamine) and TEA (triethanolamine) are hormone-disrupting chemicals found in many shampoos. They're thought to cause cancer so stay away.
