Treat Perioral Dermatitis Naturally
Perioral Dermatitis is a condition that affects the area around the mouth but can sometimes include the borders of the lines from the nose, to the sides of the lips, and the chin. Perioral Dermatitis produces redness with red bumps, pus bumps, itching, burning and peeling. My name is Nanette and I am here to guide you in using natural remedies to restore your skin to a healthy state. As a Certified Master Herbalist, many people ask me, "What causes Perioral Dermatitis and what can I do about it?" The cause of perioral dermatitis is unknown however some believe it is a form of rosacea or sunlight-worsened seborrheic dermatitis. Strong corticosteroid creams applied to the face can actually cause perioral dermatitis. Some types of makeup, moisturizers, and dental products may be partially responsible. 1) Cleanse with warm (not hot) water and use a mild,
"non-soap"
cleanser that is hypo-allergenic, fragrance free. It is important that it contain only natural ingredients filled with nutrients that will begin moisturizing your skin. Most soaps (even those listed as gentle or doctor recommended) are extremely drying - this is NOT the result you are looking for. Further, always avoid harsh, grainy scrubs as these can irritate your skin.
2) Next, in caring for perioral dermatitis, it is important to couple your skin care with a cream that is specially formulated for the face and neck. It must be a fragrance free, all natural and deep moisturizing face cream. I recommend staying away from is anything that even has a hint of fragrance! I can't tell you how many people I see that use products that are loaded with perfume. Fragrance ingredients in cosmetics are a key trigger for many persons. A single fragrance may contain 600 or more different synthetic chemicals, many of which have been shown to be allergens, irritants, and sensitizers, and to also possess long-term adverse health effects. They are a leading cause of allergic sensitization and contact dermatitis among cosmetic users. Reddened skin, acne, stinging skin and inflammation can all be caused by fragrances. Thus, elimination of fragrances goes a long way towards perioral dermatitits care. Never use anything with formaldehyde-based preservatives which are also leading causes of sensitive skin reactions. Sadly, most face creams are not very different from commercial, cheaply made hand and body lotions all over the world. It’s dismaying to see just what goes into the bottle. Along with semi-synthetic fatty acids and waxes, many of which do not have full safety data, they contain the full complement of oestrogenic parabens, contact allergens and penetration enhancers, perfume, and potential carcinogens – chemicals that, with repeated exposure, can trigger allergic reactions. Once a person is sensitized even the smallest exposure can trigger a response. A quality face cream should be formulated with vitamins and herbal botanicals to have the capability to begin hydrating and soothing problem skin. Also important is that it stops the itching associated with dry face skin while it's working. A natural and effective cream should unpack dry cells and restore and repair your skin

Dear Nanette,I have been to many dermatologists, all of who could not help me with the circle of itchy rash and pustules around my mouth. Most of the steroid creams they prescribed to me, made my skin worse. Then, when I stopped using them, my condition would worsen for days! I began using your FACE & BODY WASH with the FACE & NECK THERACREAM and I was amazed and grateful at how well my skin responded. I am sending you pictures to show you how far along I have come in such a short time. Much gratitude goes out to you. Mrs. Hollander, MI
Hi Nanette,I had perioral dermatitis for 3 years and it kept getting worse. I have tried every prescription medication available, and now I believe because of the medication, I had developed severe perioral dermatitis around my mouth, chin and cheeks. My skin is now so sensitive to any product I use on my face. So I vowed to no longer waste my time or money on harsh prescription medicine that I don't believe in. I don't feed my body harsh chemicals, so why would I do that to my skin? That's when I stumbled upon your site... I just ordered your all over Face & Body Wash and Face & Neck TheraCream. In less than 24 hours I can already see and feel a difference! I am so happy and confident I am finally finding relief! Leah B., CA
