Pityriasis Alba

by Cathy
(New York)

Hello Nanette,

I came across your website because my 3 year old daughter has developed Pityrasis Alba. I do not want to put steroid cream on her since learning of the harmful effects this will have on her skin and body. I really can't believe my doctor did not tell me about the risks! That's why I would like to ask you what I can do to naturally help my daughter and get rid of the Pityriasis Alba on her face.

Thank you so much!
Cathy

Response To Pityriasis Alba
by: Nanette From Skin-Remedies.com

Hello Cathy,

I commend you for doing your "homework" and refusing to put a harmful steroid cream on your young daughter! Natural remedies are the best and should be the FIRST choice parents consider for their children. Let me say for our website viewers that Pityriasis Alba is a common skin condition mostly occurring in children and usually seen as dry, fine-scaled, pale patches on the face. and is self-limiting. This condition is so named for the fine scaly appearance initially present (pityriasis) and the pallor of the patches that develop (while "alba" is Latin for white, the patches in this condition are not totally depigmented.

I would highly recommend the following products:

Use the FACE & BODY WASH which is a most gentle cleanser that will begin the healing process and add necessary moisture to the skin. Next, rub in a small amount of our FACE & NECK THERACREAM which is specially formulated for the more delicate and thinner areas of the face and neck. At first, you can even add a bit of sterile water to her first few applications to thin the cream somewhat and gradually add less water until you are applying full strength. This cream is very soothing and has anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties as it relieves itching and repairs the skin rather quickly.

Please let me know if you have any other questions and I look forward to hearing of your daughter's progress.

Warm Regards,
Nanette
