Scalp Rash Question

by Greg R.

Nanette,

I started using liquid Rogaine about 6 years ago and stopped using it last year when I noticed a continued rash on the front of my scalp. The rash did not go away so I went to a dermatologist who prescribed Fluocinonide in an oil base to put on 3 times a day along with a zinc pyrithione shampoo. Using both of these for 3 months seemed to do something to keep the redness at bay but did not cure it. The rash was always there. I stopped using both 2 weeks ago and last week went to a local spa that claims to use some healing clay from some Indians in Ohio mixed with aloe packed on my scalp for an hour per session. Then followed with a mix of 10 different oils to keep it moist. I did 5 treatments and they say it looks better. I'm saying it looks worse and now seems to be spreading further into my hairline. I read the last post from Subhani and am wondering after you look at my picture if the same products will help me. Once I get your response I'll give it a go.

Thanks, Greg R.

Hello Greg,

I would like to address the various products you mentioned using. First, let me explain for our website viewers that Rogaine (generic name minoxidil) is a medicated (drug) solution used to treat baldness or hair loss and users of this drug MUST continue to use Rogaine EVERY DAY for the rest of his or her life. If you stop treatment, your hair will return to its pre-treatment growth pattern. Many of our customers have spoken of the following dangerous side effects that I feel you should be aware of:
1) an allergic reaction (difficulty breathing; closing of the throat; swelling of the lips, tongue, or face; or hives)
2) chest pain
3) irregular or very fast heartbeats
4) dizziness or lightheadedness; or fainting

Fluocinonide is a potent glucocorticoid steroid that ranks as a "high-potency" (second-highest rank) topical corticosteroid. Minimal amounts should be used for a minimal length of time to avoid the occurrence of adverse effects. What you must know, is that if corticosteroids are used for long periods of time on raw or broken skin, they are absorbed into the body more readily. This increases the risk of local side effects such as skin thinning, a decrease in the production of natural hormones by the adrenal glands, swelling, skin irritation, redness, itching, burning sensation, rash, discoloration of the skin, easy bruising, permanent dilation of certain blood vessels, burn marks on skin, liver and kidney damage and a weakened immune system and many times a fierce return of the condition.

There are also possible side effects after using pyrithione zinc shampoo and they include:

* lack of healing of the skin condition

* severe redness or irritation of the skin

Regarding the clay and oil treatments I can tell you that when the scalp is exhibiting eczema symptoms, the thing the skin needs most is moisture and not oil. What I recommended to Subhani is what I highly recommend to you Greg:

1) At night before bedtime, rub in our specially formulated therapeutic DOUBLE STRENGTH THERACREAM into the parts of the scalp affected and be sure to do this very gently. This double strength formula is all natural and penetrates the thicker skin of the scalp deeper and faster. Allow the cream to absorb overnight into the 7 layers of scalp tissue.

2) Next, wash your hair and scalp with our HERBAL SHAMPOO TREATMENT which is hypo-allergenic and filled with nutrients. These 2 products, together, will unpack dry patches down to the deepest part of the scalp and restore much needed moisture and regain a healthy balance once again. They will also stop any itching and provide anti bacterial protection while working.

Once your scalp condition is repaired you need only use the HERBAL SHAMPOO TREATMENT to keep your scalp healthy and problem free.

Please feel free to contact me with any other questions you may have Greg and keep me posted on your progress.

Warm Regards,
Nanette
