My face before sunburn

My face before sunburn

Dear Nanette,

My name is Fahim and I had made a big mistake. Once I went to the beach without sunscreen and a friend of mine covered me full with the beach sand. When I came home I realized that I had got sun burnt. I didn't know what to do about it. Initially I put some rose water and thought that it will fade away. It has been one year and my skin is still dull, darker and is rough. I cannot use any soap and also I am not confident on using any face wash. I went to a dermatologist and he gave me a Multicare Moisturizing lotion and Elica ointment with 0.1% Mometasone Furoate. For the 1st week I used the moisturizer and then started applying the Elica ointment. Bingo it worked and I got to see the patches on my face disappearing and the skin appearing back though I have lost my rosy color on my cheeks. But after 1 week of stopping the Elica the condition came back. I could see dryness appearing again on my face with patches. During this time I didn't use soap but Seba Med face wash. Kindly help me as I am desperate to have a permanent solution.

Response to Sun Burnt And Cannot Wash
by: Nanette from Skin-Remedies.com

Hi Fahim,

Thank you for contacting me with your question. I think we have all at one time or another made the mistake of staying out in the sun too long and have suffered sun burn as you have. Severe sun damage can cause a long lasting trauma to the skin where moisture is lost leading to roughness, tightness, discoloration (such as acanthosis nigricans or vitiligo), scaly or flaky skin and irritation. Without necessary moisture drawn in to the skin layers, cells become dry, caked and hardened hindering the natural cell replacement process of exfoliation.

First, I don't recommend continuing with Mometasone Furoate which is a synthetic corticosteroid. I can tell you that all forms of steroid creams have negative side effects on the skin and body. These side effects can include: thinning of the skin, easy bruising, permanent dilation of certain blood vessels, burn marks on the skin, liver and kidney damage and a weakened immune system. Once people stop using these steroid creams their problems more often return and many times their symptoms are even worse than before.

Only natural methods bring about natural and long term "healthy" results. Just as eating a wholesome diet keeps the body strong and healthy, applying products with health building ingredients will do the same. Here are my recommendations to help bring your skin back to a normal and natural condition:

1) Wash only with a hypo-allergenic and gentle body wash which contains absolutely no chemicals or ingredients that can be toxic to the skin. Our FACE & BODY WASH will provide this type of purity as well as moisturizing ability to help bring your skin in balance.

2) Then apply our FACE & NECK THERACREAM for your facial area and our HAND & BODY THERACREAM for whole body use. These two highly enriched creams are deep penetrating and able to penetrate the 7 layers of skin and promote optimal functioning of the skin processes helping to restore your normal skin tones.

In addition to the high levels of natural, health building ingredients in these products, they further contain a very important ingredient called urea. Urea causes dry skin cells to "unpack" and expose their water binding sites, thereby enabling the cell to absorb and retain additional moisture while at the same time preventing water loss in the skin layers. If the skin is very dry and scaly, a large amount of the cream is taken up by the horny layer in order to restore needed moisture and bring back the skin's balance in disposing of dead cells and replacing them with new and healthy for wonderfully vibrant skin.

Also, if you ever experience another sun burn incidence, you should quickly apply either of the creams mentioned above as they quickly repair and restore sun burned skin as well as any type of burn.

Please keep me posted on your progress Fahim and be sure to contact me with any further questions you may have.

Warm Regards,
Nanette
