Steriod Cream Side Effects

by Zoe Hewitson
(Wales, United Kingdom)

Hello,

I am 30 years old and suffered really badly with eczema since I was 14 years old. At one time I was covered from head to toe with severe symptoms.

My doctor was prescribing steriod creams which I eventually built up an allergy to most of them.
Two years ago my dermatologist gave me a list of several chemicals I am allergic to, most of all them were to be found in the creams being prescribed by my doctor. So at present my doctors will still prescribe me a strong steriod for my body and a milder one for my face.

The problem is, I feel I have a severe case of atrophy on my face. Stretch marks, blood vessels, increased hair growth, thinning and lack of elasticity. This would be due to the 16 years use of steriod creams.

I feel really depressed as I now look older and have worse skin condition than my 65 year old grandmother.

Response To Steroid Cream Side Effects
by: Nanette from Skin-Remedies.com

Hello Zoe,

Unfortunately, after 16 years of strong steroid use, your skin is severely suffering from its damaging side effects. The stretch marks, blood vessels, increased hair growth and thinning and loss of elasticity are but a few of the many harmful effects of using steroids. However, please take heart and know that the body has a great propensity to heal and restore given the proper, natural ingredients.

My strong recommendation is to use ONLY natural skin care products with organic ingredients for your particular skin treatment that are pure and gentle.

I am going to recommend to you 3 specific products in our product line for your eczema. The fist is our FACE & BODY MOISTURIZING WASH which provides a gentle but thorough cleansing but does not strip the skin of it's natural PH. It will begin the repair process deep down that your skin needs. Next for all over body use, our HAND & BODY THERACREAM and for the delicate face and neck areas, our FACE & NECK THERACREAM. Both of these creams have the amazing capability to penetrate the 7 layers of skin and unpack damaged cells and supply moisture and nutrients to repair and rebuild healthy, balanced skin.

Because new skin is constantly being generated, and because it plays such an important protective role, it makes sense to choose nourishing ingredients. Moisture and lipids from plants like organic calendula, comfrey, chamomile and shea butter are extremely compatible with your skin and contain important nutrients as opposed to petrochemical(petroleum based) ingredients such as mineral oil, paraben preservatives, artificial dyes and fragrances, stabilizers and emulsifiers. Large companies use them because they're cheap or because they allow a product to sit on a shelf for 5+ years. These harmful chemicals are extremely damaging to your skin.

Vitamin-derived antioxidants from plant sourced ingredients not only make the best ingredients for your "inside", but for your "outside" as well. When your skin absorbs a natural moisturizer, created with only healthy ingredients, you're absorbing the nutrients in those ingredients. You will need to be quite consistent in helping your facial skin return to health and a more age appropriate condition.

Please keep me posted on your progress Zoe and all the best to you.

Warm Regards,
Nanette

Response To 2 Year Old Daughter Has Eczema
by: Nanette from Skin-Remedies.com

Hello Sandhya,

Unfortunately, Aveeno Cream, an Over The Counter cream that is sold in most stores, can cause sensitization or an allergic reaction. Most other products on the market contain large amounts of mineral oil which is a by product of making gasoline from petroleum. This inert molecule called mineral oil, is too large to even penetrate the much smaller pores of our skin so it just sits there, suffocating our skin and acting just like plastic wrap, not allowing moisture in or out. Needless to say, these should be avoided.

I will give you my recommendations for the natural treatment and care of your daughter's eczema. For bathing I recommend our FACE & BODY MOISTURIZING WASH which is a specially formulated mild cleanser that contains only herbal ingredients that are organically grown and hypo-allergenic and safe enough for baby's skin. This will begin to add moisture to her skin and soothe the skin layers. After bathing, gently pat her skin with a soft towel.

Then moisturize with our FACE & NECK THERACREAM as this is extremely important for her eczema treatment. This specially formulated cream will stop any itching while it is repairing and bringing balance back to her skin - restoring the normal function of the skin. Apply carefully around the eye area, avoiding the eyes. Remember that the body truly responds to natural ingredients.

You can also choose to add a little sterile water to the face cream before applying it to your young daughter. You really will be amazed at how quickly these products work and the soothing effect it has immediately on the skin. We have moms and dads across the globe using these 2 products with tremendous success!

Please let me know how your little girl is progressing Sandhya.

Warm Regards,
Nanette

My 4 Month Old Baby Daughter Has Eczema

by Anca
(Birmingham)

My daughter is 4 months old and she has got eczema- she is all red and her skin looks quite bad. She has got it on the body and face. I am using hydrocortisone 0.5 %.but I am not happy with it at all, especially that I know it is not the best cure. Is there any natural product that I can use on her skin, that can eventually make a difference?

Hi Anca,

Thank you for contacting me with your heartfelt question and together we will help your little girl recover from her eczema condition.

First, I am thrilled that you do not wish to keep using hydrocortisone because continued use of topical steroid creams containing hydrocortisone can cause the skin to develop a resistance (called tachyplaxis) to the medication. As a result, in order to have the desired medical effect, a stronger and more potent steroid may be needed, which may cause even more potential side effects. These side effects may include: thinning of the skin, easy bruising, permanent dilation of certain blood vessels, burn marks on skin, liver and kidney damage and a weakened immune system. That said, I highly praise you for seeking a natural alternative to help your daughter's eczema. This will make a huge difference in her recovery.

First, bath her with our FACE & BODY MOISTURIZING WASH which is a specially formulated mild cleanser that contains only herbal ingredients that are organically grown and hypo-allergenic and safe enough for baby's skin. This will begin to add moisture to her skin and soothe the skin layers. After bathing, gently pat her skin dry with a soft towel.

Then moisturize with our HAND & BODY THERACREAM as this is extremely important for her eczema treatment. This specially formulated cream will stop any itching while it is repairing and bringing balance back to her skin - restoring the normal function of the skin instead of just placating the symptoms. Remember that the most effective, specially formulated products are plant based, have a very rich emollient level and are loaded with nutrients.

Since our HAND & BODY THERACREAM is so very thick and rich, you can choose to add a little sterile water to the cream before applying to your young daughter. You really will be amazed at how quickly these products work and the soothing effect it has immediately on the skin.

Please feel free to contact me with any other questions you may have and let me know how your little girl is progressing.

Warm Regards,
Nanette

Eczema Face

I've had constant eczema breakouts under my eyes, around my nose and mouth now for 7 years...they happen maybe once every week...and since it started I've been using Dermarest over the counter eczema ointment to clear up the flares which contains 1% hydrocortisone,,, not knowing it could cause these effects..I've been to my dermatologist numerous times and nothing he prescribes works. I've also tried 2 or 3 herbal creams from Whole Foods with no success... Is there anything you recommend to rid me of this annoying burden?

Hello,

Thank you for contacting me with your question. You should know that continued use of topical steroid creams can cause the skin to develop a resistance (called tachyplaxis) to the medication. As a result, in order to have the desired medical effect, a stronger and more potent steroid may be needed, which causes health damaging side effects.

First, the discontinuing of anything harmful, such as steroid creams and such is very important for the healing process to begin. Just as the body responds to healthy, natural foods, the skin will also respond to health building, natural ingredients. The 2 products I absolutely recommend are our: FACE & BODY MOISTURIZING WASH and FACE & NECK THERACREAM, to be used morning and night.

The FACE & BODY MOISTURIZING WASH provides a gentle but thorough cleansing but does not strip the skin of it's natural PH. It will begin the repair process deep down that your skin needs. Next, gently apply a light coat of the FACE & NECK THERACREAM. This rich cream penetrates all 7 layers of skin to unpack dry, damaged cells and restore much needed moisture from the bottom up to the very skin surface. The natural ingredients will quickly repair the breakouts as well as reduce redness and inflammation and stop any itching. Both of these products are formulated with skin nurturing ingredients that repair, restore and replenish natural moisture levels in the skin.

Please keep me posted on your progress as you begin your new regimen.

Stress Induced Eczema On My Scalp

by Misty
(Texas)

I am 31 year old and have been diagnosed with stress induced Eczema. I have long dark hair and so you can see when my scalp is dry. I use shampoo for this and have used tea tree oil. Nothing is working. Do you have suggestions?

by: Nanette From Skin-Remedies.com

Hello Misty,

Stress induced eczema can range from mild to severe symptoms. In fact, symptoms can vary day to day since levels of stress can be quite cyclical. It is important to become aware of what triggers your stress levels and to find ways to control your responses to these.

Regarding the "ineffectiveness" of commercial shampoos - there are several reasons for this. If using a certain product, let's say for a few years, you suddenly notice that you are developing dry, itchy, flaky scalp, this is a result of the body reaching its "threshold of tolerance" to the chemicals in that particular product. In other words, there is only so much toxicity a body can tolerate, hence the "reaction" to its ingredients. Then you reach for a new product which seems to be working. However, shortly after, your symptoms return only worse. This is due to the fact that most products do not penetrate the 7 layers of skin/scalp necessary to repair the eczema. The symptoms seem to improve but are only being suppressed until finally they manifest themselves once again.

To treat the resulting eczema on your scalp here is what I highly recommend:

1) At night before bedtime, rub in our specially formulated therapeutic DOUBLE STRENGTH THERACREAM into the parts of the scalp affected and be sure to do this very gently. This double strength formula is all natural and penetrates the thicker skin of the scalp deeper and faster. Allow the cream to absorb overnight into the 7 layers of scalp tissue.

2) Next, wash your hair and scalp with our HERBAL SHAMPOO TREATMENT which is hypo-allergenic and filled with nutrients. These 2 products, together, will unpack dry cells down to the deepest part of the scalp and restore much needed moisture and regain a healthy balance once again. They will also stop any itching and provide anti bacterial protection while working.

Once your eczema condition is repaired you need only use the HERBAL SHAMPOO TREATMENT to keep your scalp healthy and problem free. As an internal recommendation, I would highly recommend our GREEN POWERHOUSE taken daily. This supplement is packed with high nutrition in a wide assortment of vitamins, minerals, enzymes, chlorophyll and more! This will provide your body with the health building components for it to better handle life's many stressful situations.

Please keep me posted as to your progress Misty.

Warm Regards,
Nanette

Desperate With Eczema

DESPERATE I have scarring on my body and skin specialists said it would go away when I hit my teens - I'm 18 now and it's barely changed. Through desperation I used a tube of Betamethasone and was so excited about the results. I was warned of the side effects but I didn't care - it worked but the pharmacist now refused to sell me anymore and offered hydrocortisone instead. It clearly wasn't as effective but still worked. My mother looked into that cream and found out about the steroid content and took me off of it. The thing is I am desperate to clear my skin - what else could I use. I have tried all the herbs and 'safe' creams under the sun but nothing seems to work. Please advise, hydro seems my only option.

Hello,

I do understand how frustrating and desperate a skin condition such as eczema can make you. Without visually examining the scarring you speak of it is difficult to know if you are speaking of deep and indented scarring or skin discoloration from where your eczema cleared up but left its "mark". Take heart though, for the skin does have the capability to be repaired and restored to a large degree given the right ingredients and as long as you refrain from applying any more steroid cream to the area. I'm not sure if you realize that Betamethasone is a potent glucocorticoid steroid with immunosuppressive properties. You should know that using hydrocortisone or any steroid cream produces side effects which include: thinning and discoloration of the skin, easy bruising, permanent dilation of certain blood vessels, burn marks on skin, liver and kidney damage and a weakened immune system. Not only this, but steroid use almost always produces a "rebound effect" of the very symptoms you are trying to get rid of!

Repairing eczema or any skin condition and returning the skin to a healthy state takes "healthy ingredients" and drugs and steroids just cannot do this. To treat your eczema and begin to bring your skin layers back to a balanced and healthy state and function, I highly recommend the following:

Here is my strong recommendation to help your skin recover.

Wash only with a hypo-allergenic and gentle wash which contains absolutely no chemicals or ingredients that can be toxic to the skin. Our FACE & BODY WASH will provide this type of purity and will help bring your skin in balance. Then apply our MY DAUGHTER'S HAND & BODY THERACREAM which is a deep penetrating cream which will penetrate the 7 layers of skin and will promote optimal functioning of the skin processes. It will reduce inflammation and add much needed moisture as well as the vital health building ingredients necessary for repairing the skin. Consistency and patience will be needed to help your skin steadily gain back its texture and tensile.

Please keep me posted on your progress.

Nanette

MSRA - Eczema - Steroid Creams Don't Help!

by Mick
(Scotland)

Hi Nanette,

I write this email to you from my hospital bed in a dermatology unit here in sunny Scotland, having just discovered a MAJOR FACTOR which answers many questions about my eczema; indeed I feel I have discovered a cure (for myself at least).

So let me start at the beginning....

I'm 40 years of age having suffered from eczema since the age of 15. I would grade my eczema as medium severity with occasional severe flare ups. 3 months ago I suffered the mother of all flare ups. Despite plastering on potent steroids and avoiding other allegedly aggravating factors such as dust mites, processed foods, dairy products, soaps/gels etc., my skin continued to deteriorate until such time as I had little skin left. I was a burning mass resembling a Chernobyl fireman and my body was starting to shutdown. By the time my family got me to hospital my body was in shock; high blood pressure and heart rate etc. - the doctors recommended immediate intravenous steroids and antibiotics. I declined the steroids insisting instead that the root cause must be investigated; I felt that the answer may lie in bacteria on my skin; my justification for this being that I had ruled everything else out. So they took skin swabs which revealed the presence of MRSA. I started on anti-septic baths and within 4 days my skin was revolutionized. THE FLARE UP WAS CAUSED BY THE PRESENCE OF "BAD" BACTERIA ON MY SKIN. KILL THE BACTERIA AND YOU WILL CLEAR THE ECZEMA. No steroids required!

PLEASE PASS THIS INFO ON TO OTHER SUFFERERS AS I SURELY CANNOT BE THE ONLY ONE AFFECTED IN THIS WAY.

Regards,
Mick

by: Nanette From Skin-Remedies.com

Hello Mick,

Thankfully, you are now recovering from such a life threatening situation! You mentioned that you suffered with eczema, of medium severity, for 25 years. In this amount of time, you have used steroid creams and ointments and I would imagine that the strength of these prescriptions became more and more potent over the years. You have likely discovered that there are so many dangerous side effects from using steroid creams. These include: thinning of the skin, discoloration, easy bruising, permanent dilation of certain blood vessels, burn marks on skin, liver and kidney damage and a weakened immune system.

You mentioned you were diagnosed as having MRSA. For our website viewers let me explain that MRSA stands for methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus (S. aureus) bacteria. This organism is known for causing skin infections in addition to many other types of infections. There are two major ways people become infected with MRSA. The first is physical contact with someone who is either infected or is a carrier (people who are not infected but are colonized with the bacteria on their body) of MRSA. The second way is for people to physically contact MRSA on any objects such as door handles, floors, sinks, or towels that have been touched by a MRSA-infected person or carrier. Normal skin tissue in people usually does not allow MRSA infection to develop; however, if there are cuts, abrasions, or other skin problems such as eczema, psoriasis, dermatitis and many other itchy, dry skin conditions, MRSA may proliferate as an opening in the skin allows this bacteria to infiltrate the body. One major problem with MRSA is that occasionally the skin infection can spread to almost any other organ in the body. When this happens, more severe symptoms develop. MRSA that spreads to internal organs can become life threatening. The anti-septic baths you had for 4 days helped to destroy the MRSA bacteria wreaking havoc to your skin and the antibiotics worked on removing the bacteria internally.

Although, not every skin condition is caused by bacteria, every skin condition can be worsened by this dangerous addition. Scratching and bleeding are typical results of trying to endure itchy, dry and inflamed conditions which unfortunately, makes an opening for bacteria to enter. This is why the right remedy is so very important in the repair and care of the skin. Natural creams, cleansers and shampoos that have anti bacterial, anti microbial and anti fungal properties are critical when eczema or any skin condition needs to be treated. This is how we have formulated all of our products so that they protect the skin from becoming infected while they repair the condition.

I am thrilled that you are recovering and please continue to protect your skin from any further bacterial infection and do keep me posted on your progress Mick!

Warm Regards,
Nanette

Eczema

by Samantha
(British Columbia, Canada)

What other hypoallergenic creams or remedies can I use for my daughters eczema? It's ALL over her body, but it's not severe, only a few spots are red and super dry (like her cheeks). My doctor gave me the hydrocortisone cream for her eczema, and it has worked for it. Though none of the reactions have occurred to my daughter, I do NOT wish to have it happen. I am a firm believer in homeopathic medicines, but this steroid cream I thought would be a good quick fix but from the sounds of it, my daughter would have terrible long term effects.

Hello Samantha,

It is certainly a wise decision on your part not to continue with hydrocortisone cream for your daughter's eczema needs. So many of the side effects of these steroid creams take place internally and these are certainly to be avoided!

For moms around the world, I have recommended the following natural, hypo-allergenic products that have brought rapid and long standing relief to so many of the skin conditions plaguing our children today.

1) Wash her skin with our FACE & BODY WASH which is a gentle and hypo-allergenic cleanser filled with health building ingredients. It will begin the repair process while adding moisture to her troubled skin.

2) Next, apply our FACE & NECK THERACREAM for the facial area and our HAND & BODY THERACREAM for the body areas, twice daily as this will immediately stop the itching and relieve inflammation of her skin. These highly therapeutic creams will begin to unpack the dry damaged cells that lie beneath the top surface of her skin and then fill those areas with moisture. In a short time, the natural function of her skin will be restored.

Please let me know how your son progresses and all the best to you Samantha.

Warm Regards,
Nanette

Cushings Syndrome

by Peter
(CA)

Hello Nanette,

I've been reading your website, you have some great information that I have not heard of before. I have dealt with eczema since I was 10 years old. This past year I've used steroid creams on my face and now I think I have Cushings Syndrome. I'm no longer on it but I will make sure with my dermatologist this Friday. If it is, can your products on aim2health.com help these symptoms of dry skin on the face and thinning of the skin?

Hello Peter,

Like you, many of our customers have gone through years of steroid cream usage only to find that their symptoms still exist and that their skin has thinned. Add to this, the possible development of any number of diseases due to the dangers that using steroid creams present. To answer your question, yes, your symptoms of dry facial skin and the thinning that has occurred can be repaired and restored. You see, the body has a great propensity to repair and rejuvenate given the proper ingredients.

Know that what you wash with is so very important and I can't emphasize this enough. Many products on the market today are loaded with harsh, drying ingredients that strip the natural PH of your skin leaving it further vulnerable. I recommend our gentle and pure FACE & BODY WASH that will deeply cleanse and moisturize your skin even before you apply cream and begin the repair process.

Next, apply our FACE & NECK THERACREAM twice daily. This hypo-allergenic cream penetrates all 7 layers of skin to restore balance and much needed moisture from the bottom up to the very skin surface. Both of these products are formulated with skin nurturing ingredients that repair, restore and replenish natural moisture levels in the skin.

You mentioned thinking you might have Cushings Syndrome. For our website viewers, I will explain that Cushing's syndrome is a rare hormonal problem. It happens when there is too much of the hormone cortisol in your body. Research shows that long-term use of steroid creams is the most common cause of Cushing's Syndrome.

I would highly suggest the following for your consideration in your plan to resume healthier bodily systems. To restore and build your immune system, take our INTESTINAL BOWEL CLEANSER twice daily, to remove impacted waste matter and toxic build up as well as assist in cleansing the liver and kidneys. This will greatly help by building and strengthening your immune system.

To nurture your entire body, take our GREEN POWERHOUSE several time per day, to provide your body with the widest array of vitamins, minerals and enzymes needed by the body to repair and replenish. This formula also contains the highest amount of chlorophyll which further cleanses every cell as well as promotes healthy cell growth, functionality and development.

Please keep me posted on your progress Peter and remember that the body responds readily to natural ingredients.

Warm Regards.

Help! Eczema

Hi Nanette,

I'm 14 and I've had eczema ever since I was tiny and
I've used hydrocortizone the same length of time.
My skin is very, very dry. I moisturize all the time, and it gets very red and angry looking. Are there any foods you can recommend to help with my problem or to help rebuild my skins thickness back up?

Thanks.

by: Nanette from Skin-Remedies.com

Hello Catherine,

Thank you for contacting me with your question and high praises to you for deciding to make your food choices a part of your healthy skin treatment. I'm going to answer your question very thoroughly so that you have every option to choose from. These food choices will then have a tremendous impact on your skin health and over time, rebuild your skins internal structure to a healthy and strong state.

Water: Drinking a minimum of 8 to 10 glasses of water a day will show positive results on your skin.

Omega-3s: Healthy omega-3 fatty acids help maintain cell membranes so that they are effective barriers--allowing water and nutrients in and keeping toxins out. Omega-3s also seem to protect skin against sun damage. Good food sources include oily fish, sardines, Pacific oysters, lake trout, flaxseeds, walnuts and eggs.

Grains: Instead of refined carbs, eat more whole-grain carbs, which don't cause the blood sugar spikes that lead to the glycation (sugar breaking down) of skin proteins that accelerates dryness.

Vitamin C: It's involved in collagen production and protects cells from free radical damage. Good sources include peppers (red/green/yellow), oranges, strawberries, lemons and broccoli.

Vitamin E: This vitamin helps protect cell membranes and guards against UV radiation damage. I recommend eating wheat germ, avocado, fortified cereals, nuts and seeds.

Beta carotene: Beta carotene (a form of vitamin A) is involved in the growth and repair of skin tissue and protects against sun damage. You can get ample beta carotene from foods like sweet potato, pumpkin, carrots, mangoes and apricots is entirely safe and great for your skin.

Selenium: This helps safeguard the skin from sun damage and dryness by protecting skin quality and elasticity. Food sources include Brazil nuts, tuna (canned light in water), crab and wheat germ.

Glucosamine: Available as a dietary supplement, it increases hyaluronic acid levels, which helps skin hold onto water and gives it plumpness.

What can actually damage your skin?

Sugar: Sugar can be very detrimental to your skin. It increases acne and may speed dryness by causing glycation--the result of sugar breaking down and bonding with protein molecules. This reduces the elasticity of the collagen and leads to tougher, dry skin.

Greasy foods: Foods that are high in saturated and trans fats have been shown to damage skin.

I would also recommend talking to your parents about taking a break from hydrocortizone use and trying some our face and body creams that naturally take care of such conditions as your eczema. Invite them to explore our website to read why they work so quickly.

Please keep me posted on what's happening Catherine and until then....take the best of care!

Warm Regards,
Nanette

Eczema in Children

(Yuma, Az, US)

Hi,

I have 4 children that were diagnosed with Eczema. During allergy season, I constantly use hydrocortisone prescribed cream. It helps, but I hate knowing this is a chemical and a steroid with many side effects.

I looked though your products and testimonials from other concerned mothers, but I wasn't sure what product to purchase for my children. Please help me decide which one to try. Their ages are from 4 to 10 and they have a mild case of Eczema in common areas like buttocks, behind knees and inside of arms & thighs. It saddens me to know that this is not curable and I would like to make them feel better.

I appreciate your help and I really hope your products work for my children. Not only is this uncomfortable, it is not nice to look at. They have scratched in their sleep causing bleeding and scabbing. :(

Thank you for your time.

Respectfully,

Worried Mommy in AZ

Hello Lina,

It sounds like you have been really trying to find a natural solution to your baby's eczema and you are to be commended! Most of the products on the market just have too many harsh ingredients to be effective. I would recommend our FACE & BODY WASH and our FACE & NECK THERACREAM for your daughter's cheeks. When applying the cream for the first few days add a bit of sterile water to the cream before applying to dilute the cream. After 3 or 4 days begin to add less and less water until you are applying full strength.

Please keep me posted on her progress Lina.

Eczema In 7 Months Old
by: Lina

Hello Nanette,

I have a 7 month old daughter and she had eczema since she was 1 month old. I tried so many things and nothing really works. Pediatricians keep telling me to use Hydrocortisone 1% and Aquaphor but reading about all the side effects of Hydrocortisone I refused to use it. However I did use Aquaphor on her cheeks, (that is the only place she has the breakouts) but it only helps a little and she keeps scratching it all the time and make her cheeks bleed. Some of the other things I did was ordered cream called eczemaderm and had high hopes but it actually makes her cheeks look and feel worse than before, it gets stretchy, red and skin begins to peel off. I also tried a plant called Bidens Tripartita in latin and what I did was boil it for ten minutes and washed her face with it a few time a day. It did help but not as much as I would like.
I changed her formula as well from Enfamil to Earth's Best Organic formula hoping that might help and it did not.
I used to use a heater in her room during the winter but stopped doing that and now I use a humidifier a few times a week.
After reading about your products I am really hopeful that they will help my baby. Please HELP and let me know what you can suggest for our situation.

Thank you very much.

Response To: Eczema In Children
by: Nanette From Skin-Remedies.com

Hello,

First, take heart! I understand how heartbreaking it can be to watch our children suffer, but you should know that the skin responds to natural ingredients much in the way that the body responds to wholesome foods. I commend you for doing the necessary research on the use of hydrocortisone creams and their very damaging side effects.

For your children, I highly recommend two of our fast performing products. First, wash with our FACE & BODY WASH, which is a hypo-allergenic, chemical free cleanser, which will quickly add much needed moisture to the skin and begin the restorative process. Most soaps and cleansers on the market, even those labeled "natural", contain drying chemicals and only exacerbate skin conditions. Next, apply our all natural HAND & BODY THERACREAM twice daily to the areas you mentioned. This cream will penetrate the skin 7 layers deep and add abundant moisture as well as stop the itching (so important with young children) and contains plenty of vitamins and nutrients to repair, fortify and protect their skin.

Please keep me posted on your children's progress.

Warm Regards,
Nanette

My 4 Month Old Son Has Eczema

by Connie
(Montebello, Ca)

I didn't know that using hydrocortisone cream 0.05% can thin the skin! My 4 month old son has been using it for about 3 1/2 weeks & I'm just finding out! I'm stopping the use of the cream after reading about what can happen to my baby. I can't believe his doctor didn't inform me better about the thinning of the skin & damage it can cause his liver plus other parts of his body! It is scary for me now! I hope I stopped it in time. My son's eczema is new for me & I have never dealt with this before. Nobody in my nor my husbands family have it so I didn't know anything. I fine that using Aveeno for baby work the fragrance free & Eucerin baby Aquaphor & giving him baths in warm water with oatmeal on his face works! After I put lotion on his face first! I'm still learning & now I plan to do other things treat his eczema!

Response To My 4 Month Old Son Has Eczema
by: Nanette from Skin-Remedies.com

Hello Connie,

Unfortunately most doctors do not inform their patients of the many risks and side effects of using steroid creams. I am so glad that you stopped using hydrocortisone on your son when you did but for so many others who have used this dangerous drug for not only months but years, now suffer from its use. Side effects include: thinning of the skin, easy bruising, permanent dilation of certain blood vessels, burn marks on skin, liver and kidney damage and a weakened immune system. That said, I highly praise you for seeking a natural alternative to help your son's eczema. This will make a huge difference in his recovery.

You mentioned using products such as Eucerin, Aveeno and Aquaphor, however, these creams can actually increase the skin's dryness levels because they contain mineral oil or other petroleum based by products. These ingredients have NO usefulness to the skin nutritionally and in fact, the molecules are too large to even pass the pores of the skin so the cream just sits on top and literally suffocates these pores thereby causing further dryness and damage.

Here is my recommendation Connie:

First, bath your son with our FACE & BODY MOISTURIZING WASH which is a specially formulated mild cleanser that contains only herbal ingredients that are organically grown and hypo-allergenic and safe enough for baby's skin. This will begin to add moisture to his skin and soothe the skin layers. After bathing, gently pat his skin dry with a soft towel.

Then moisturize with either our FACE & NECK THERACREAM(for the facial area) or our HAND & BODY THERACREAMa(for all over body use - depending on where his eczema is located) as this is extremely important for his eczema treatment. These specially formulated creams will stop any itching while repairing and bringing balance back to his skin - restoring the normal function of the skin instead of just placating the symptoms. Remember that the most effective, specially formulated products are plant based, have a very rich emollient level and are loaded with nutrients.

At first, you can even add a bit of sterile water to his first few applications to thin the cream somewhat and gradually add less water until you are applying full strength. This cream is very soothing and will quickly reduce any redness and inflammation.

Please feel free to contact me with any other questions you may have Connie and let me know how your little boy is progressing.

Warm Regards,
Nanette

Blistery Rash On The Palms Of My Hands

Question For Nanette:

Which of your products would you recommend for a blistery rash on the palms of my hands? I have not had relief for months, actually years, because it is also recurring. This is a cyclical and spreading eczema that blisters and oozes, dries, cracks, and peels, then begins all over again, itches horribly, and hurts like crazy if I do anything with my hands. Even water is painful. I am at my wit's end...I hope that one of your products will be the answer.
Thank you!

Response To Blistery Rash On The Palms Of My Hands
by: Nanette From Skin-Remedies.com

Hello,

Eczema occurring on the hands and as severe as your condition is, can be quite devastating to deal with. I highly recommend our MY DAUGHTER'S HAND & BODY THERACREAM to be applied a minimum of twice daily. Because the hands are constantly being used you will want to carry the tube of cream with you and apply on a need basis as well until the skin on your hands is totally healed over. This cream is hypo-allergenic and will stop any itching and relieve inflammation as it repairs and restore the skin. The wholesome ingredients will help keep your hands healthy and restore the skin's balance.

You may also want to consider using our FACE & BODY MOISTURIZING WASH which will not deplete the PH of the skin as most soaps and cleansers do but will begin the healing process and add much needed moisture to the 7 skin layers.

Please keep me posted on your progress.

Warm Regards,
Nanette

Psoriasis Or Seborrheic Dermatitis?

by Mark
(Ireland)

Hi Nanette,

My name is Mark and I’m a 28 year old male from Ireland. I have had problems with my skin now for 2 years and I've been to doctors and dermatologists and have used all the creams and shampoos they gave me and there has been no change. They have told me that I have psoriasis and seborrheic dermatitis but from what I have seen and read on web sites I believe it is seborrheic dermatitis so I am now looking to try something different so any help you can give me would be great. It started on my head where I have red blotches and white marks all over my head and it can get very itchy at times and also when I shave my head its just all dry and flaky. Then on my face I have red blotches under my eyebrows on my forehead and all over my nose down the sides of my nose and out onto my face. I also have red blotches on my upper lip and down the sides of my mouth now all these red blotches seem to grow skin faster than everywhere else on my body and it breaks and falls off now. I also have red blotches on my chest but no dry skin on that. When I have a shower I wash my face with water and all the red blotches seem to flare up and I think its the heat of the water but when my face dries it tightens up like its been stretched and all the skin cracks and falls off and I also have red blotches on my penis and genitals. Any help would be great. Thank you.

Response To: Psoriasis Or Seborrheic Dermatitis?
by: Nanette From Skin-Remedies.com

Hello Mark,

Continued use of topical steroid creams and shampoos can cause the skin to develop a resistance with greater side effects which include: thinning and discoloration of the skin, easy bruising, permanent dilation of certain blood vessels, burn marks on skin, liver and kidney damage and a weakened immune system. Not only this, but steroid use almost always produces a "rebound effect" of the very symptoms you are trying to get rid of! Experts feel that seborrheic dermatitis is due to yeast organisms that are common residents of human skin. Since they need lipids to survive, they tend to colonize in areas that are relatively rich with sebum. These fungi trigger an immuno-allergic type response in susceptible individuals. Other factors include: genetics, oily skin, humidity, exposure to soaps, detergents and irritants that degrade the skin's barrier function, stress, diet and the work environment.
I highly recommend using our natural, anti-fungal creams and shampoo to reduce yeast colonization thereby lessening an inflammatory response. Our products also add much needed moisture to repair dry damaged skin.
These are my strong recommendations:
1) Wash with our FACE & BODY WASH which is hypo-allergenic and will provide deep down cleansing. Then apply our FACE & NECK THERACREAM for the facial area, and our MY DAUGHTER'S HAND & BODY THERACREAM for the body areas. These creams will penetrate the 7 layers of skin and promote optimal functioning of the skin processes helping reduce inflammation and restore your skin while stopping any itching and providing an anti bacterial, anti microbial and anti fungal protection as well.
2) For your scalp, rub in our DOUBLE STRENGTH THERACREAM into the parts of your scalp affected daily. It penetrates the thicker skin of the scalp deeper and faster and will stop the itching. Allow the cream to absorb overnight into the 7 layers of scalp tissue. Next, wash your hair and scalp with our HERBAL SHAMPOO TREATMENT which is hypo-allergenic and filled with nutrients and will unpack dry patches down to the deepest part of the scalp and restore much needed moisture and regain a healthy balance once again. They will also stop any itching and provide anti bacterial protection while working.
3) To cleanse your bowels, take our INTESTINAL BOWEL CLEANSER twice daily, to remove impacted waste matter and toxic build up as well as assist in cleansing the liver and kidneys. This will greatly help by building and strengthening your immune system.
4) To build your body systems, take our GREEN POWERHOUSE to provide your body with the widest array of vitamins, minerals and enzymes needed by the body to repair and replenish it. This formula contains the highest amount of chlorophyll which further cleanses every cell as well as promotes healthy cell growth, functionality and development.
This is my full recommendation, both external and internal. Please keep me posted on your progress Mark.
Warm Regards,
Nanette

Response To: Hyperkeratosis
by: Nanette From Skin-Remedies.com

Hello Ritesh,

Hyperkeratosis Eczema , also called dermatitis, is an inflammation of the skin that can be triggered by allergies, irritating chemicals and other factors. Eczema causes itching, redness and tiny blisters. When the inflammation is difficult to control, chronic eczema can lead to hyperkeratosis, dry skin, scaling, changes in skin color and localized hair loss. You have inherited this condition from your father, however, you did not specifically tell me where your condition exists. Most times, hyperkeratosis eczema is located on the soles of the feet and/or palms of the hands.

For our website viewers I will say that Dermovate cream and ointment both contain the active ingredient clobetasol propionate, which is a type of medicine called a topical corticosteroid. What you must know, is that if corticosteroids are used for periods of time on raw or broken skin, they are absorbed into the body more readily. This increases the risk of local side effects such as skin thinning, a decrease in the production of natural hormones by the adrenal glands, swelling, skin irritation, redness, itching, burning sensation, rash, discoloration of the skin, easy bruising, permanent dilation of certain blood vessels, burn marks on skin, liver and kidney damage and a weakened immune system and many times a fierce return of the condition.

I do not believe in poisoning the body with steroid creams with all of their dangerous side effects. I only recommend using natural and health building ingredients. Below are my recommendations:

For feet, elbows, knees and scalp: our DOUBLE STRENGTH THERACREAM.

For arms, legs, hands and torso: our MY DAUGHTER'S HAND & BODY THERACREAM.

For the face and neck areas: our FACE & NECK THERACREAM.

For all over bodily cleansing: our FACE & BODY WASH.

For the scalp: our HERBAL SHAMPOO TREATMENT.

All of these products contain important ingredients that help hard, dry skin cells to "unpack" and be brought to the skin's surface for exfoliation and exposes the water binding sites of the cells 7 layers down, thereby enabling the cell to absorb and retain additional moisture. You will need to choose the products that pertain to your particular condition.

Please keep me posted on your progress Ritesh. (Note that to place orders shipping to locations outside of the USA - go to www.aim2health.com which is our sister site that serves our International customers).

Warm Regards,
Nanette

Response To: Use of Daktacort Hydrocortisone Cream
by: Nanette From Skin-Remedies.com

Hello Tomisin,

First, I would like to explain to our website viewers that Daktacort cream and ointment contain two active ingredients, hydrocortisone and miconazole. Hydrocortisone is a type of medicine known as a corticosteroid (or steroid). What you must know Tomisin, is that if corticosteroids are used for long periods of time, on large areas of skin, delicate areas of skin such as the face, or raw or broken skin, they are absorbed into the body more. This increases the risk of local side effects such as skin thinning, and those on other parts of the body, such as a decrease in the production of natural hormones by the adrenal glands, swelling, skin irritation, redness, itching, burning sensation, rash and many times a fierce return of the condition. For this reason, continuous, long-term use of this medicine should be avoided wherever possible.

Here is what I highly recommend you use instead of harmful steroid creams. Wash only with a hypo-allergenic and gentle body wash which contains absolutely no chemicals or ingredients that can be toxic to the skin. Our FACE & BODY WASH will provide this type of purity and will help bring your skin in balance. Then apply our FACE & NECK THERACREAM which is a deep penetrating cream which will penetrate the 7 layers of skin and will relieve the eczema, promote optimal functioning of the skin processes helping reduce inflammation and restore your skin while stopping any itching and providing an anti bacterial protection as well. All of our products are filled with just the right health building ingredients which is essential to the repair of the skin. Just as the body responds to wholesome foods, the skin will absolutely respond to healthy ingredients.

Please keep me posted on your progress Tomisin.

Warm Regards,
Nanette

Awful Eczema Out Break

by Vera Humphries
(UK)

I've recently had an awful eczema outbreak and I used to suffer badly from eczema when i was younger. I tried everything from aloe vera gel, pills, wild oregano oil, zinc ointment and nothing helped.....ever! After two months of literally being so itchy I felt someone had poured acid on my skin, I felt so paranoid and uncomfortable I could barely leave the house. I started using hydrocortisone 1% out of sheer desperation as it was making me so depressed and low. Then I found your website searching on the net and quickly ordered your products. Within 1 1/2 weeks my eczema was 85% improved!! I have not been this happy in a long time.....thank you so much for your wonderful products!!

Steroid Withdrawal Sufferer

by Cecile
(Florida)

I have used prescription steroids both orally (prednisone) and 1% triminacolone cream for eczema. I went off of the prescription creams last December & had a horrible rebound effect. I then switched to over the counter 1% hydrocortisone cream, which helped a little. Then about a month and a half ago I went off the over the counter cream, and now have severe swelling, edema (water coming from ears & scalp, when I scratch), itching & hive like patches all over my body, head to ankle, in places where I never even used the steroid cream. I'm taking antihistamines and an analgesic cream for the itching. Did I mention my face is peeling? I went to a doctor but he prescribed more steroids. Can your cream help me? Thank you.

by: Nanette From Skin-Remedies.com

Hello Cecile,

I'm sorry to say, but it doesn't surprise me that after you stopped using steroid prescriptions as well as over the counter steroid creams you experienced a horrible rebound effect! Steroid use, at any level, can get into the blood stream and cause many problems. In addition, drugs force the body to produce a certain response that often goes against the body's natural function and design. Side effects from steroid use include thinning and discoloration of the skin, easy bruising, permanent dilation of certain blood vessels, burn marks on skin, liver and kidney damage and a weakened immune system. From what you have described such as symptoms of sever swelling, hives and continuous itching, it sounds like your body is certainly experiencing a rebound effect from the steroids. Many of our customers have gone through similar experiences and I will give you my strong recommendation.

First, the discontinuing of anything harmful is very important for the healing process to begin. Since you apparently have had a reaction over a large part of your body, I will start at the scalp. I recommend our HERBAL SHAMPOO TREATMENT which will bring much needed moisture into the layers of your scalp where the dryness begins as well as provide anti itch and anti fungal properties. For your face and body use our FACE & BODY MOISTURIZING WASH which provides a gentle but thorough cleansing but does not strip the skin of it's natural PH. It will begin the repair process deep down that your skin needs. Next for all over body use, our HAND & BODY THERACREAM and for the delicate face and neck areas, our FACE & NECK THERACREAM. Both of these creams have the amazing capability to penetrate the 7 layers of skin and unpack damaged cells, relieve itching and supply moisture and nutrients to repair and rebuild healthy, balanced skin. Remember, the body responds to health building ingredients!

Please keep me posted on your progress Cecile.

Warm Regards,
Nanette

by: Nanette from Skin-Remedies.com

Hello,

Without knowing what eczema cream or acne cream you are currently using, I cannot tell you what ingredients are causing this damaging cycle. However, I can tell you that many people like yourself, have also experienced negative reactions to market creams such as breaking out with acne or rashes. The best way to treat eczema as well as any acne breakouts is with natural ingredients. Just as the body responds to wholesome foods, the skin most definitely responds to nourishing ingredients.

What I would highly recommend is to wash only with a hypo-allergenic and gentle body wash which contains absolutely no chemicals or ingredients that can be toxic to the skin. Our FACE & BODY WASH will provide this type of purity and will help bring your skin in balance. Then, apply our FACE & NECK THERACREAM which is a deep penetrating cream which will penetrate the 7 layers of skin and promote optimal functioning of the skin processes helping to restore normal skin function which results in clearer, eczema and acne free skin.

Dandruff And Itchy Neck And Scalp Line

Just recently I developed itchiness at the back of my neck, near the scalp lines. It started as a normal itch and then grew worse over time where I had to pluck a few strands of hair on the affected area to reduce the itch. It has now become a habit for me to pluck hair though I know it is bad for my hair. I went to several doctors and they said that my hair is not dirty it is only sensitive to certain products. So I avoided dairy and nuts. And washed my hair twice. But it grew even worse when it spread to the back of my neck and behind my ears. I never had a history with eczema and I am not sure what caused it.... I'm very traumatized and upset with this matter because I used to have clear skin. Even doctors can't tell me what is the exact cause.

Response To Dandruff And Itchy Neck And Scalp Line
by: Nanette From Skin-Remedies.com

Hello,

Yes, this can be a very frustrating condition but my first recommendation is to stop plucking your hair! This will not resolve the problem and you may be damaging the hair follicles. When you say that your doctors told you that you are sensitive to certain products, did they mean dairy and nuts? This is not clear to me. What does seem to fit though, if this is NOT a food allergy reaction, that your scalp is more than likely reacting to the harsh chemicals contained in the hair products you are using and are found on the market today! You must understand that just as the body responds to wholesome foods, the scalp will respond to natural ingredients. Here is my recommendation to you and certainly, discontinue using your present hair products while following these guidelines.

1) At night before bedtime, rub in our specially formulated therapeutic DOUBLE STRENGTH THERACREAM into the parts of your neck, behind your ears and the scalp line affected and be sure to do this daily. This double strength formula is all natural and penetrates the thicker skin of the scalp deeper and faster and will stop the itching you are experiencing. Allow the cream to absorb overnight into the 7 layers of scalp tissue.

2) Next, wash your hair and scalp with our HERBAL SHAMPOO TREATMENT which is hypo-allergenic and filled with nutrients. These 2 products, together, will unpack dry patches down to the deepest part of the scalp and restore much needed moisture and regain a healthy balance once again. They will also stop any itching and provide anti bacterial protection while working.

Once your condition is repaired you need only use the HERBAL SHAMPOO TREATMENT to keep your neck, ears and scalp healthy and problem free.

Please keep me posted as to your progress.

Nanette

Eczema And Steroid Cream Side Effect

by Paul
(Manchester)

Hi,

I was prescribed Fucibet years ago for eczema on my hands. This steroid cream worked great and so I kept on using it -- usually for a couple of nights in a row whenever I had a reoccurrence, which, would be between a couple of weeks to a month.

Then I started getting the eczema on my face. And so, knowing little of the dangers of the steroid cream, I began to use it on my face. The tiniest bit is all I would need, and I would never use more than required to alleviate the eczema.

However, a few months ago, I started to develop a swelling or lump on my right cheek. In searching the net and trying to understand what was causing this, I learned, about a week ago, of the dangers of using steroid creams and have promptly stopped using them all together -- I'll just have to find some other way to control the eczema.

But what I'd like to know is, how long will it take for the swelling/lump to return to normal? Will it return to normal, and is there anything I can do to help this process?

Response To Eczema And Steroid Cream Side Effect
by: Nanette From Skin-Remedies.com

Hello Paul,

First, for our website viewers I would like to share about the harmful effects of using steroids. These side effects include: thinning of the skin, easy bruising, permanent dilation of certain blood vessels, burn marks on skin, liver and kidney damage and a weakened immune system. Also, using steroid creams does not produce a healing effect only a certain "tolerance level" of the condition but at a huge health risk! Specifically, I cannot tell you what the lump or swelling on your cheek is but I can tell you that natural remedies are the best way to treat skin and body conditions as they offer health building ingredients that the body can respond to.

Here are my recommendations for your eczema condition:

First, the discontinuing of anything harmful, such as steroid creams and such is very important for the healing process to begin. The 2 products I absolutely recommend for your facial area are: our FACE & BODY MOISTURIZING WASH and FACE & NECK THERACREAM, to be used morning and night. These products will begin healing and repairing the skin 7 layers deep and over time will bring back balance and restoration while adding much needed moisture. For your hands I recommend our product called MY DAUGHTER'S HAND & BODY THERACREAM which is a prime natural remedy for eczema on the hands and for other body areas as well and will add a protective barrier to your skin with its anti bacterial properties.

Please keep me posted on your progress Paul.

Eczema On My Face And Body

by Nicole
(Emerald, QLD, Australia.)

Hello Nanette,

I need your help...
I have eczema on my face and body. I massage Sorbolene cream once I get out the shower each night. My skin is dry and irritating. I just read the article above as he mentioned you recommended products for his/her 16 year old son, and I was just wondering if you could recommend anything to me? I get very red cheeks, and it's very dry. I barely get pimples or things like that and my face is usually quite clean as I sometimes get compliments occasionally. Although under the makeup I wear, it's all red and very very sore. Do you have anything to recommend?

Thank you.

Response To Eczema On My Face And Body
by: Nanette From Skin-Remedies.com

Hello Nicole,

There is an answer to your eczema problem. First, let me say that the Sorbolene cream that you are using contains mostly wax, mineral oil and preservatives. Mineral Oil is the by-product of making gasoline from petroleum and since we use so much gasoline, it makes mineral oil very cheap for companies, therefore it makes the perfect (yet toxic!)filler. It's absolutely horrible for the skin, and the molecules are much too large to even penetrate the pores of the skin, so it sits on top of the skin with a greasy feeling and can actually make your problem even worse than it already is.

My recommendation for your eczema is to wash only with a hypo-allergenic and gentle wash which contains absolutely no chemicals or ingredients that can be toxic to the skin. Our FACE & BODY WASH will provide this type of purity that will deeply cleanse AND MOISTURIZE your skin even before you apply cream. This is an important feature since your cleanser should leave you with a plus moisture level and not a minus moisture level! Then apply our FACE & NECK THERACREAM which is a deep penetrating cream which will penetrate the 7 layers of skin and promote optimal functioning of the skin processes helping to repair and restore from the bottom up. This cream also provides a protective barrier as it is anti-fungal and anti-microbial.

For the eczema on your body, moisturize with our HAND & BODY THERACREAM as this is extremely important for your eczema treatment. This specially formulated cream will stop any itching while it is repairing and bringing balance back to your skin - restoring the normal function of the skin. Remember that the body truly responds to natural ingredients.

This is my strong recommendation and I look forward to hearing about your progress Nicole!

Warm Regards,
Nanette

Hello Cookie,

First I want to praise you for seeking natural remedies for your son's eczema problem. While hydrocortisone creams are typically prescribed by dermatologists and others in the medical field to alleviate eczema symptoms, they are harsh and can produce side effects which include: thinning of the skin, easy bruising, permanent dilation of certain blood vessels, burn marks on skin, liver and kidney damage and a weakened immune system. Not only this, but once these steroid creams are no longer used, the skin problem comes back many times worse than before.

Also, products such as Eucerin and Vaseline can actually increase the skin's dryness levels because they contain mineral oil or other petroleum based by products. These ingredients have NO usefulness to the skin nutritionally and in fact, the molecules are too large to even pass the pores of the skin so the cream just sits on top and literally suffocates these pores thereby causing further dryness and damage.

Here is my recommendation to clear up your son's facial eczema.

1) Wash his skin with our FACE & BODY WASH which is gentle and hypo-allergenic and filled with health building ingredients. It will begin the repair process while adding moisture to his troubled skin.

2) Apply our FACE & NECK THERACREAM twice daily to his face as this will immediately stop the itching and relieve inflammation of his skin. This highly therapeutic cream will begin to unpack the dry damaged cells that lie beneath the top surface of his skin and then fill those areas with moisture. In a short time, the natural function of his skin will be restored.

Please let me know how your son progresses and all the best to you Cookie.

Warm Regards,
Nanette

CHRONIC ECZEMA
by: Anonymous

Good Afternoon,

I have chronic eczema as I was advised by the skin clinic Doctor where I went for treatment.

I have been given treatment but nothing has happened. The problem started last year in 2016 around March. I noticed that when am exposed to sunlight or am in a humid place my skin starts itching and becomes red on my arms, legs, chest and parts of my face.

Please advise what I should use to bring back my skin to normal.
