red, itchy, skin all around eye area, burning, itchy, skin all around eye area.

I have had several outbreaks of intense itching, burning, and redness, on my eyelids and under eye area. It will get better for awhile, then return. I have been to a dermatologist twice, without success. I'm concerned about using a cortozone cream on the area, as I was told not to get it into my eyes. I use a fragrance free shampoo, Cetaphil for face cleansing and olive oil for moisturizer. I've also changed to fragrance free cosmetics. I've been applying Vaseline to the eye area and it has been of some help. I'm at a loss as to what is causing this condition and what to do to relieve it.

Hello Pat,

Red, itchy skin around the eyes/eyelids is actually a very common syndrome and many people are suffering with it as a result. You see, the eyelids are the thinnest skin on the body, making them very delicate and prone to irritation and infection. Anyone who has used steroid/cortisone cream on their eyelids can attest to its devastating side effects. Here is a link to the possible side effects of using steroidal creams: https://www.skin-remedies.com/hydrocortisone-cream.html I am glad to see that you have decided not to use such drugs. You mentioned using Cetaphil facial cleanser, however, after reading their ingredients:
Ingredients
Water, Glycerin, PEG-200 Hydrogenated Glyceryl Palmate, Butylene Glycol, Sodium Lauroyl Sarcosinate, Acrylates/Steareth-20 Methacrylate Copolymer, PEG-7 Glyceryl Cocoate, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Phenoxyethanol, Masking Fragrance, Panthenol, PEG-60 Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Disodium EDTA, Methylparaben

I can point out several items that have huge negative effects on the skin/body:
FRAGRANCE: Also known as Parfum: synthetic components that trigger asthmatic and other allergic reactions; skin irritation; central nervous system disruption and can even disrupt hormone balance. A single fragrance may contain 600 or more different synthetic chemicals, many of which have been shown to be allergens, irritants, and sensitizers, and to also possess long-term adverse health effects. They are a leading cause of allergic sensitization and contact dermatitis among cosmetic users. Reddened skin, acne, stinging eyes and dryness can all be caused by fragrances. Thus, elimination of fragrances and other harmful ingredients goes a long way.

PARABENS: Methylparaben, butylparaben, ethylparaben, isobutylparaben, propylparaben: These are preservatives that can irritate the skin making you susceptible to contact allergies. They are found in popular skin lotions and shampoo that are synthetic toxic substances that can increase women's breast cancer risk. Parabens are also extremely well absorbed via the skin. Leave-on products, such as skin lotions, hair sprays, gels and other hair products as well as facial make-up, are of greatest concern because of the long exposure time and opportunity for migration of these harmful ingredients via the skin into the bloodstream.

You also mentioned that you are using VASELINE on your eyelids, however, most people don't know that it is pure petroleum and gasoline is produced FROM PETROLEUM. Petroleum is inert, and the molecules are way to big to pass the pores so it just sits on top of your skin suffocating it.

I would highly recommend first cleansing with our All Over Face & Body Wash followed by an application of our Face & Neck TheraCream. You can apply the cream several times per day as needed. We have a very high success rate for our customers suffering with the symptoms you have described.

Pat, please keep me posted on your progress and know that I am here to assist you with any other questions you may have.

Warm Regards,
Nanette
